Only Prayer

The book  Only a Prayer Meeting is a collection of Spurgeon's studies on prayer meetings and messages shared at prayer meetings.
He opens the book saying the church gathered together to pray is sometimes "wickedly described as 'only a prayer meeting."
The book goes on to encourage the church to meet only for prayer.

Men of Trinity Baptist Church,
"Only a Prayer Meeting" is a call to gather together with a group of men for the purpose of prayer.

Let's gather several groups of men who regularly meet
throughout September and October
to pray for
our church, our families, our friends, our coworkers, and our neighbors.
These are not formal groups established and put onto the church calendar.
These are groups men set up their own meeting times and group members.

Prayer Helps

Only praying together for 30 minutes might seem like a long time, but it really isn't.
Here are some helps for Biblical, God-glorifying prayer.

  • During part or all of your prayer time, focus on a passage of Scripture.  A good one to start with is Psalm 62.
  • Pray with a Pencil.  The concept is: don't take time sharing your prayer requests.  Pray your requests, and everyone else writes down the requests prayed so you can pray them later, or you can even review them after you pray.
  • Use the TBC prayer sheet that is emailed out on Tuesday afternoon.
  • Prayer for some or all of TBC's supported workers.  Go to trinitybaptistgr.churchcenter.com/pages/supported-workers
  • Use a church directory or the Church Center app to pray for the men at TBC.  If you want a copy of this list, email Pastor Dave at dave@tbcgr.org
  • If you have other suggestions or help, please share them.
